Supplements to Clear HPV Naturally (Episode 264)

How to choose natural supplements to help you clear the high-risk HPV virus with clinically effective nutrients, herbs, and other natural products.
Addressing root causes with clinically effective, professional-grade supplements is essential for clearing HPV naturally. Dr. Doni Wilson recommends a strategic approach using immune-supporting nutrients like methylfolate, vitamins A, C, D, E, zinc, and selenium, along with antiviral herbs and probiotics, all while improving lifestyle factors through her C.A.R.E. protocol.

How to choose clinically effective supplements to help you clear the high-risk HPV virus naturally using nutrients, herbs, and other natural products.

I’m an expert in helping women address high-risk HPV virus and abnormal pap smears, meaning abnormal cells on the cervix, vagina, vulva, or other areas. I’ve been helping women in this area for over 25 years, starting when I was in naturopathic medical school specializing in women’s healthcare. I’ve subsequently helped thousands of women from around the world clear high-risk HPV virus to negative and prevent it from coming back again.

I want to be clear even before we start discussing supplements and how to choose them. I have a completely different approach and perspective. First, I see in the clinical cases I work with and in the research that the human body has the ability to clear high-risk HPV virus to negative and prevent it from coming back, even if you’re re-exposed to it. That’s one truth you must know before going any further.

Second, I’m not just going for temporary results. Many people who reach out to me might be taking a supplement to help them address HPV, but it’s really a temporary fix. It’s not going to lead to lasting prevention of HPV. I’m not interested in a quick fix—I’m going to be sharing with you a long-term solution.

Third, I don’t believe you should have to take a long list of supplements for the rest of your life in order to prevent HPV from returning. Anyone who’s giving you suggestions and telling you you’re now going to have to continue taking whichever supplements they’re recommending for the rest of your life is not giving you a comprehensive, complete solution.

So those are my first three guidelines: understand that the human body has the ability to clear the virus (your immune system, your microbiome—I cover this in other videos), it’s not about a single pill like a magic pill, and it’s not good enough to think you’re going to have to take a huge long list of supplements for the rest of your life.

I want you to learn how to help your body protect you from high-risk HPV, not become reliant on an external substance.

Five Common Mistakes When Choosing HPV Supplements

Let me cover five common mistakes I see people make. Women come to me for one-on-one or group programs and say, “Dr. Doni, this is what I’ve been taking for the past three months or six months or even years, and HPV hasn’t gone away. What am I missing?” I want to share the five most common mistakes I find when I review supplements that people are taking to try to fend off HPV.

1. Focusing on one single supplement

Many women come to see me and say they’ve been taking one supplement, such as AHCC, which many people hear about because there’s a lot of marketing and awareness about it. AHCC is an extract of shiitake mushrooms—a patented extract.

A company in Japan extracted AHCC from shiitake mushrooms, patented it, and now sells it to companies around the world. They’ve also paid for a lot of research on this particular patented substance.

I want to warn you against thinking that’s your whole solution. If you put all your eggs in that basket, you may or may not get results. I hear from women all the time who say they’ve been taking AHCC for a long time at the recommended doses, and HPV hasn’t gone away. It’s not 100% effective. In fact, the research studies show between 63% and 75% effectiveness in helping women clear HPV.

That’s just to get it to negative. Usually, you have to take a dose of 6 g for at least three to six months for it to help clear the virus, and then you would potentially have to continue taking that dose ongoing to prevent it from coming back.

To me, this is not a full solution. We’re looking for something with much higher than 63% to 75% effectiveness, and we’re also looking for something that doesn’t require you to take it forever.

Mushroom extracts in general, and certainly AHCC, do have good effectiveness based on research, so it’s something you could include in your overall plan. But it’s not the only thing I would recommend, and it’s not even the first thing—there are several things I would do before adding AHCC based on clinical effectiveness.

Also, there are more potent and higher-absorbed AHCC formulas. If you’re just getting any AHCC you find online, you might not be getting the highest efficacy. If you go through a practitioner, you can access the professional practitioner-grade version of AHCC that has 67% or higher potency, meaning you don’t have to take as many capsules to get the same effect.

2. Not choosing high-quality supplements

The second mistake I find is that people are not choosing high-quality supplements. People might be searching online or shopping at Amazon or Target and grabbing any supplement they can find—even lower-quality vitamin C, vitamin E, or vitamin D. There’s a difference. Whenever you’re choosing supplements, even vitamin C or a multivitamin, you want to choose a high-quality brand, meaning professional grade. Often, professional-grade supplements are not sold in stores or online stores—you need to buy them through a practitioner.

Professional-grade companies require that someone like me has a license and demonstrates that in order to set up an account and place orders. These professional-grade, physician-grade supplements have higher clinical effectiveness and tend to be GMP certified, meaning they’ve been reviewed and third-party tested.

This means you know that what’s on the label is actually in the capsule. You don’t want to just trust that just because a company says something is in there, it actually is. You need something that’s been tested from a high-quality company.

Also, you want to make sure it doesn’t contain unnecessary ingredients. Many supplements contain colors, fillers, gums, waxes, and things that are unnecessary and could negatively impact your health.

Look on the back of the bottle to find out what’s in the “other ingredients” section. Is there anything that sounds like something you don’t want to be swallowing every day? Does it say it’s GMP certified?

Contact the company and ask if it’s a professional-grade company and if it’s a product you need to get from a practitioner’s office. Then you know it’s professional grade.

3. Taking supplements that are not at clinically effective doses

Many people are taking supplements that are not at clinically effective doses. Many supplements sold online try to put a lot of ingredients into one bottle, into one pill. But keep in mind that there’s only so much that can fit into one little capsule.

When they try to put eight ingredients into one product (and there are a couple of products like this intended for helping with HPV and abnormal pap smears), you get only a tiny dose of everything—a tiny dose of vitamin A, a tiny dose of vitamin C, a tiny dose of folate, and so on. It’s not actually adding up to clinically effective doses.

You can take it—it’s not going to be harmful—but it probably won’t be enough to be helpful.

We know from research what are going to be the clinically effective doses, meaning doses that actually help your body clear HPV and heal your cervix. As a clinical nutritionist and naturopathic doctor, I have that information from textbooks and research.

We can find what doses are working and which supplements actually contain those doses in a way that you can take them daily. It needs to be clinically effective; otherwise, it’s probably not going to be enough.

4. Not being strategic with your supplements

When it comes to HPV, it’s not just about throwing spaghetti at the wall and randomly taking different supplements that sound good. We need to have a strategy, and our strategy needs to address the underlying reasons why your body isn’t clearing the virus to begin with.

Remember guideline #1: the human body can clear this virus. If your body is not clearing high-risk HPV, it means your immune system needs help, your microbiome might need help, your hormones might be out of balance, or you might have a nutrient deficiency. We need to understand what’s underlying, and your doctor is unlikely to tell you this.

The doctor is unlikely to tell you that there’s another reason why you’re testing positive for HPV and have abnormal cells. We have to look for that. I call them the eight susceptibilities. They are the potential root causes of HPV because we need to address those.

When choosing supplements, we need to select products that help you address those underlying susceptibilities. It needs to match your body and what it needs—not just something random that someone else said was good.

5. Not creating a comprehensive strategy for your specific case

The fifth mistake also comes back to the concept of having an overall strategy. I often see people who might have vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, and green tea—just a random bunch of supplements, maybe 10 or 20 of them—yet there’s no strategy behind it. It’s not saying, “Here’s exactly why this nutrient and this dose, and here’s this nutrient and this dose.”

Instead of choosing random things, we need a strategy first. I’m going to talk you through how to create a strategy so that when you’re taking supplements, each has a purpose and their purposes work together.

It’s a synergistic blend of nutrients, herbs, and other natural substances that will help you with a clear focus and intention. That’s what makes a huge difference. Without that, you could just be spinning in circles, feeling frustrated, and not clearing HPV for years.

I encourage you to review your supplements, pull them out, and think about whether you’re falling prey to one of those five mistakes I mentioned. Make sure you have high-quality supplements with clinically effective doses and a clear plan of action. Then we can start talking about clearing this virus.

We have a good chance of clearing the HPV virus and, by addressing the root causes and fixing what your body needed to begin with, your body can protect you from HPV going forward without needing to take all these supplements for the rest of your life.

Beyond Just Supplements: A Comprehensive Approach

Our immune system can be affected by stress and trauma—we all have some stress and trauma, so we need to address that and help you recover. That’s why I wrote the book “Master Your Stress Reset Your Health.” I help people recover from stress and become resilient to the stress in their life so their immune system can effectively protect them.

We also need to look at your digestion. Are you digesting your food? How is your microbiome? Are you absorbing nutrients? Are you having inflammatory reactions? I have other videos talking you through how to heal your gut to help heal from HPV.

We also need to practice what I call C.A.R.E.—an acronym for self-care that’s more specific than how we usually think of it.

  • C. is for Clean eating, meaning we need to eliminate inflammatory foods, foods that weaken your immune system, refined sugar, and alcohol. We need to focus on nutrient-dense foods and high protein.
  • A. is for Adequate sleep—are you getting 7.5 to 9 hours of sleep?
  • R. is for Recovery activities like breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, and journaling. We have to recover from stress and trauma each day to help our immune system protect you from HPV.
  • E. is for Exercise—movement based on your body and current activity level. If you haven’t been exercising, we’ll start slow. If you’ve been over-exercising, we might need to back off because excessive exercise raises cortisol, the stress hormone that can work against us.

We need to work on your self-care and then ensure you have high-quality supplements.

Recommended Supplements

When I create a supplement protocol, I break it down based on nutrients, then herbs, mushrooms, probiotics, and then other natural products.

First, what nutrients help the immune system specifically clear high-risk HPV?

Research shows that vitamin C, vitamin A, B vitamins (especially folate—I recommend methylfolate or 5MTHF, not folic acid), vitamin D, vitamin E, and minerals like zinc and selenium are all important.

Many of these can be covered in a high-quality multivitamin, but you need to ensure it’s professional grade with active forms of nutrients and clinically effective doses. You may need extra vitamin C, which works better spread throughout the day. We usually use higher doses of folate than what you find in a multivitamin to get the clinically effective dose.

For herbs, there are many that help the immune system and are antiviral. Look for high-quality, professional-grade, clinically effective doses.

Consider green tea (4 cups daily or in capsule form), curcumin (in an absorbable form), and mushrooms like turkey tail (Coriolus), Reishi, and AHCC. Other immune-supporting herbs that help fend off viruses include Astragalus, Andrographis, and Echinacea.

We also use herbs for specific purposes like for detoxifying estrogen, healing leaky gut, or addressing your particular susceptibilities.

I’ve put together my top five supplements based on over 25 years of clinical experience: a high-quality multivitamin, immune support with vitamin C and other immune-boosting nutrients and herbs, active methylfolate in a clinically effective dose, additional vitamin A (not during pregnancy), and a supplement called CCDG that contains effective doses of green tea, curcumin, DIM (for estrogen), and Coriolus mushroom.

Here are the top 5 supplements I recommend, packaged in an HPV Supplement Bundle (Important note: It is not for during pregnancy).

From there, I recommend to add a probiotic—both oral and vaginal probiotics. There are good formulas with research showing that when you swallow a women’s vaginal balancing probiotic, it can help heal the vaginal microbiome, preventing yeast, BV, and HPV.

Consider using herbs, nutrients, and probiotics in vaginal suppositories as well, though you’ll need to work with a practitioner to access these. I also often recommend a homeopathic remedy specific for HPV, peptides to reset the immune system, and gemmotherapy (plant stem cell therapy) to help clear HPV.

Getting the Right Doses

It’s important to work with a practitioner who can help you get the right doses based on your specific needs, blood work, and nutrient deficiencies.

We must consider whether you’re trying to get pregnant, are already pregnant, or breastfeeding, as well as any medical conditions or medications you’re taking. We always need to pay attention to potential allergic reactions and start with low doses, going slowly to see how your body responds.

To learn more, join me at my next How to Get Rid of HPV FREE online workshop, where I teach you not just about supplements but how to create your full comprehensive healing plan.

From there, I offer the Heal HPV Kickstart Program which is a 30-day program that includes dosing for the top 5 supplements.

For more comprehensive support to address all eight susceptibilities, in addition to diet changes, supplements doses, and vaginal suppositories, the three-month long Say Goodbye to HPV online group program has what you need.
