Healing with Plant Stem Cells with Jennifer Payeur (Episode 263)

Plant stem cells perform several vital functions in the body. They help detoxify the body from within, restore the extracellular matrix, and help regenerate parts of the body that have broken down.
Plant stem cell therapy can help restore cellular communication and detoxify the body. Expert Jennifer Payeur joins Dr. Doni to talk about how these ancient healing modalities from the Italian Alps support immune function and recovery from chronic illness.

Plant stem cells have amazing potential to help regenerate parts of the body that have broken down. New and emerging research around plant stem cell therapy offers gentle, natural remedies that work with the body’s own systems to restore cellular function.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to Jennifer Payeur, a holistic health practitioner and researcher who is the author of the recently released “Ancient Plant Wisdom” book. She’s also the founder of Nature Provides, an innovative plant stem cell company, as well as the creator of the Nature Provides documentary.

I’m thrilled to share her story and work with you because it offers a completely different approach to healthcare using plants and plant medicines that can help us heal, including from cancer-related issues.

Jennifer’s Health Crisis

Jennifer’s story is truly inspiring. She completely changed her career based on her own health journey, which now fuels her passion behind Nature Provides, her book, and everything she does. Jennifer experienced two major health crises that transformed her life path. The first one happened in 2008 when she was working about 20 hours a day, sleeping only about 3 hours a night. Her body was giving numerous warning signs – her lymph nodes were the size of golf balls, she was gaining weight and experiencing extreme fatigue – but she kept ignoring these signals.

Eventually, she was diagnosed with pneumonia, bronchitis, shingles, tachycardia, mono, and chronic fatigue – all at once. Her doctor warned her that if she didn’t change her life, she wouldn’t be on the planet in five years. This stark realization became the first major shock that prompted her to reassess her priorities.

After this diagnosis, Jennifer found herself drawn to healing modalities. A book called “Hands of Light” literally fell on her head from her bookshelf – a book she had purchased years before but only skimmed. She read it cover to cover and decided to attend a four-year healing school, despite her already overwhelming work schedule. This decision marked the beginning of her transformation, as she followed her inner voice telling her she needed to make this change.

The timing of these events is significant because it shows how our bodies often try to communicate with us long before we’re ready to listen. Jennifer describes this as “that inner voice that we all get and we often don’t pay attention to,” but in this case, the message was too important to ignore.

Her husband thought she was crazy for adding a four-year healing school to her already packed schedule, but something deep within her knew this was the path she needed to follow. This illustrates how healing journeys often begin with a leap of faith, trusting an intuition that may not seem logical at the time.

How a Cancer Diagnosis was Pivotal in Her Journey

Jennifer immersed herself in healing practices, attending the four-year Barbara Brennan healing school, spending two years with indigenous grandmothers learning about plant medicine and the natural world, completing yoga certification, studying medicinal aromatherapy, and exploring numerous other holistic modalities. As she aligned more with her true purpose, the universe responded – she was able to negotiate 60 days of vacation per year at a new job, significantly reducing her stress and bringing more balance to her life.

By 2012, she had graduated from healing school and established a full-time healing practice, leaving the corporate world behind. However, shortly after this transition, she was diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), an early stage of breast cancer. She immediately made significant lifestyle changes, altering her diet and stress levels. For three years, while carefully monitoring her condition with regular ultrasounds, the calcified cells in her breast remained stable.

Then, an old boss called and asked her to return to a corporate leadership position. After meditating on the opportunity for a month, she accepted the role. Just three months later, in the high-stress environment that involved weekly travel, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. This second health crisis delivered an even more powerful message that her current lifestyle was unsustainable, forcing her to make dramatic changes for her survival.

This progression in Jennifer’s health journey demonstrates the relationship between stress and disease. For three years, when her life was balanced and stress levels were managed, the early-stage cancer didn’t progress. But within just three months of returning to the high-stress corporate environment, her condition rapidly deteriorated to stage 4 cancer. This powerful cause-and-effect relationship makes a compelling case for the impact of lifestyle on our health outcomes.

Jennifer describes how she initially viewed the opportunity to return to corporate work: “I had an old boss call me up and say ‘I need a strong leader, Jen, will you come back and work for me?’ And I meditated on it for a month, and I’m like, ‘OK, why is this showing up?’ So I followed that impulse.”

This inner questioning shows how even when we’re on a healing path, we may still be drawn back to old patterns, especially when they’re reinforced by external validation and identity. It took the stage 4 diagnosis for Jennifer to fully recognize that this part of her life was incompatible with her health and wellbeing.

Workaholic Culture and Its Health Consequences

The workaholic pattern Jennifer describes is quite common in our society. Many of us tend to work more hours than we do anything else, setting aside our basic human needs like adequate sleep, time in nature, and healthy nutrition. We get caught up in the societal norm of working all day long, believing we can function with minimal sleep, and then repeating this cycle endlessly.

What makes workaholism particularly insidious is that it’s the only addiction where you actually get paid well and receive recognition. In corporate environments, working excessive hours often leads to promotions and bonuses because you’re perceived as productive and committed. The system encourages you to keep “feeding the beast,” making it difficult to break free from this addictive cycle.

Sometimes it takes a severe health crisis like Jennifer’s stage 4 cancer diagnosis to force us to realize that enough is enough. She recognized that her cancer had three primary components: an immune system issue, a toxic burden issue, and a nervous system issue related to emotional trauma. While she had addressed certain aspects of these issues, she hadn’t fully resolved all three, particularly her nervous system’s chronic state of stress.

Our bodies continuously send us messages to slow down and rest, reminding us that rest is essential for repair and healing. However, like Jennifer, many of us consistently ignore these signals until our health deteriorates to the point where we can no longer function as before.

The three-pronged approach to understanding serious illness that Jennifer describes is particularly illuminating: “I think it’s a three-pronged issue. You’ve got an immune system issue, you’ve got a toxic burden issue, and then you have a nervous system issue or some type of emotional trauma.”

This holistic perspective acknowledges that physical illness rarely has a single cause but rather emerges from the interaction of multiple bodily systems under strain. Many conventional medical approaches focus primarily on the physical symptoms without addressing the underlying nervous system dysregulation or emotional trauma that may be driving the condition.

Choosing an Alternative Healing Path

After her stage 4 cancer diagnosis, Jennifer made some bold decisions about her treatment approach. While she did undergo surgery, she received a strong intuitive message that the standard care of chemotherapy and radiation was not right for her path. This decision wasn’t popular with her family, who urged her to follow conventional medical advice, but she felt compelled to listen to her body’s wisdom for the first time.

This marked the beginning of her dedicated meditation practice, where she started going inward, being still, and curiously exploring what aspects of herself she had been ignoring or suppressing. She entered an uncomfortable but necessary space of emptiness between her former identity, which had been defined by her corporate career, and whatever was emerging next in her life.

This transitional period was challenging because she was accustomed to constant activity and having lengthy to-do lists. She even recalls asking a mentor for instructions on “how to be” because her life had been so defined by doing rather than being. Learning to simply breathe, eat, sleep, and spend time in nature became part of her healing journey.

Reflecting on her childhood, Jennifer recalled being a tomboy who spent hours outdoors every day. Taking a job in the financial world, sitting under fluorescent lights in front of a computer, disconnected her from that nature-loving little girl. A significant part of her healing involved reconnecting with nature, plants, and animals, addressing the deficit this disconnection had created in her body and spirit.

Jennifer’s decision to forego standard cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation represents a pivotal moment in her healing journey: “I got such a strong message that chemo and radiation standard of care was not my path, which was not very popular in my family.

My family said, ‘You need to do whatever the doctors say’ and I said, ‘For the first time, I’ve got to listen to my body, and my body’s telling me there’s a better way for me, and I just have to trust it and follow it.'” This choice to listen to her inner guidance rather than external advice, even from loved ones, marks a significant shift in her relationship with herself and her healing process.

The discomfort of the transitional period between identities is something many people experience during major life changes but rarely discuss. Jennifer describes this space as “sitting in this emptiness, this very uncomfortable surrender to say, ‘OK, something new is wanting to come through, and it can’t come through with that old way of being.'”

This articulation of the void between an old self and an emerging new self helps us understand why transformational periods can feel so destabilizing – we’re literally between identities, having let go of one way of being before fully embodying another.

Discovering Plant Stem Cell Therapy

In 2018, despite having achieved better balance in her life, Jennifer noticed her cancer markers were rising again. Through a friend’s recommendation, she flew to Dallas to see a doctor who specialized in working with cancer patients. During this visit, the doctor showed her a bottle of embryonic plant stem cells, saying it had saved many of his patients’ lives. Jennifer describes feeling “struck by lightning” at that moment, with an inexplicable but powerful intuition that she needed to learn more about these plant stem cells.

Three months later, she attended a week-long immersion on plant stem cells. On the final day, the owner of the company announced he would be selling the business, and Jennifer felt that same lightning bolt of intuition. After returning home, she meditated for a month and then asked to be put on a protocol using the plant stem cells. Within two months of starting in March 2019, her cancer markers returned to the normal range.

In that moment, she knew intuitively that she was meant to be the steward of these plants, and she eventually purchased the company. The plants themselves reside in the new growth on plants in springtime – those little buds that are undifferentiated cells that have not yet become bark, flower, stem, or leaf. In this growth phase, they offer several powerful healing properties.

The synchronicity in Jennifer’s story – how she first heard about plant stem cells from a doctor who mentioned them casually, then found herself at a seminar where the owner announced selling the company – illustrates how healing paths often unfold in unexpected ways. What’s particularly notable is that she hadn’t even tried the products before deciding to purchase the company: “The man did not have any products with him during the class, so I had no experience at all, and I’m an experiential learner.” This decision came from a deep intuitive knowing rather than logical analysis or even direct experience with the product.

Jennifer’s description of what happened when she finally tried the plant stem cells is compelling: “I started in March of 2019, and by the end of April, my cancer markers were back in the normal range. And in that moment, I knew – I had a knowing in my body. I’m an intuitive. I kept seeing light coming into my body, and so I knew in that moment that I was supposed to be the steward of these plants.”

This rapid improvement in her biomarkers, combined with her intuitive visions, confirmed for her that these plant remedies were meant to be part of her healing journey and her future purpose.

How Plant Stem Cells Work in the Body

Plant stem cells perform several vital functions in the body. First, they clean up cells, tissues, and organs, acting as drainage remedies to detoxify the body from within. Perhaps most impressively, they help restore the extracellular matrix – the fascia and neural network that allows for proper communication throughout the body.

This restoration of communication is particularly significant for conditions like cancer, where the immune system fails to recognize cancer cells, allowing them to proliferate unchecked. By bringing the extracellular matrix back online, the body can properly identify problems and direct resources to address them. The plant stem cells essentially bring light into the body, highlighting areas of imbalance and helping to restore homeostasis and coherence.

Additionally, these plant stem cells help regenerate parts of the body that have broken down. For example, if an artery is clogged, the body can generate a new artery to ensure blood flow until the original artery is cleared. This combination of biological and energetic properties makes plant stem cells unique, somewhat like a cross between homeopathy and adult herbs.

Each plant has an affinity for specific organ systems and body systems. The plants used in Jennifer’s remedies come from the Italian Alps, from high mountain areas that are prayed over and considered sacred land. These areas are not sprayed with chemicals and have no heavy metals, ensuring the purity of the environment where the plants grow. All the buds are hand-picked, emphasizing the importance of intentionality and relationship with the plants in the healing process.

This relationship with plants is something Jennifer learned from indigenous grandmothers – these plants are elders that were here long before humans, and they’re here to serve and support us during this time of widespread chronic illness. Rather than dismissing plants as insignificant, we should recognize their intelligence and wisdom that they bring to the body.

The mechanism of how plant stem cells work is particularly fascinating for those interested in alternative healing modalities. Jennifer explains, “The first thing they do is they clean up the cell, the tissue, and the organs. So they are known as drainers – they are drainage remedies that clean up the inside of the body.” This detoxification function helps prepare the body for deeper healing by removing obstacles to health.

She continues with what she considers their most impressive function: “I think the most spectacular thing they do is they bring the extracellular matrix back online. So that is our fascia, that’s our neural network, and so now the body is communicating again.”

This concept of restoring the body’s internal communication network is crucial for understanding how these remedies can help with conditions where the body’s recognition systems have broken down, as with cancer: “When you take an illness like cancer, the immune system is not recognizing the cancer cell, and that’s why they can proliferate and grow out of control – the immune system is not taking care of it.

So by bringing that extracellular matrix back online, the body can now recognize, ‘Oh, there’s a problem over there, I’m going to actually send resources to go take care of it.'”

The Science and History of Plant Stem Cell Therapy

The medical term for plant stem cell therapy is gemmotherapy, from the Latin word “gemmo” meaning bud. Jennifer traced the history of this practice back to Saint Hildegard of Bingen, who wrote about the buds of eight trees in her book “Skira” in 1158. For about 800 years afterward, there’s little documentation of this practice, suggesting it went underground. Then in 1958, Dr. Paul Henri in Europe began studying and using plant buds, initially focusing on liver health.

From 1958 onward, more research becomes available on gemmotherapy. Currently, there are about four companies that produce these remedies, all located in Europe. Part of Jennifer’s mission has been to raise awareness about these plant stem cell remedies, especially since metabolic health issues are at an all-time high and mitochondrial health is suffering – areas where these remedies excel.

The process used to create these remedies is called spagyric, a 400-year-old process identified by Paracelsus. The only ingredients in the bottle are organic grape alcohol and organic glycerin, which extract the active principles from the plant buds. After macerating for about 28 days, the plant material is removed, pressed, and burned. The cell salts are then extracted and returned to the liquid, ensuring that all the oligoelements and mineral elements of the plant are preserved in the tincture.

A natural condensation process spiralizes the tincture about 1,000 times a day, resulting in a structured product with both energetic properties and the vital life force of the plant buds. This detailed process creates a potent remedy that preserves all the healing properties of the original plant material.

The historical disappearance and reemergence of this knowledge is intriguing. As Jennifer notes, “For 800 years, you can’t find anything – it totally went underground. And then in 1958 in Europe, Dr. Paul Henri started studying them and started giving them.” This pattern of ancient healing knowledge disappearing and then reemerging centuries later is not uncommon in the history of medicine, particularly with plant-based therapies that may have been suppressed during periods when more mechanistic approaches to medicine dominated.

The spagyric process Jennifer describes is fascinating in its detail: “The only thing in this bottle is organic grape alcohol and organic glycerin, and those are essentially what’s extracting the active principles out of those little plant buds. After those buds are macerated for about 28 days, they pull the plant material out, they press it, they burn it – this is the spagyric process – and then they extract the cell salts from it and put it back into the liquid.

So now you’re getting all of the oligo elements, all of the mineral elements of that plant back in the tincture.” This process respects the wholeness of the plant, ensuring that nothing is wasted and all components are incorporated into the final remedy.

Plant Stem Cell Therapy and HPV

For women dealing with high-risk HPV virus, which is associated with cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, and other cancers, specific plant stem cell remedies can be particularly helpful. While hedge maple is effective for RNA viruses, HPV is a DNA virus that requires a different approach.

Dog-rose (also known as rose hip seed) is excellent for DNA-type viruses like HPV. Dog-rose contains a high concentration of vitamin C and helps with lymphocytes and CD4 cells in the body, effectively minimizing the impact of the virus and supporting its remission. It also stimulates natural killer cells, making it the second highest plant in terms of vitamin C concentration. This remedy helps the immune system identify and clear HPV virus, preventing it from hijacking cellular DNA and potentially causing cancer.

The human body naturally has the ability to clear high-risk HPV virus, but our immune system often becomes depleted by stress, trauma, and constantly putting others’ needs before our own. When under chronic stress, our immune system can’t effectively protect us from viruses. The goal is to help the immune system recover so it can identify HPV and prevent it from affecting cell nuclei and potentially causing cancer.

Another important aspect of health that these remedies address is the lymphatic system. Along with the fascia, the lymphatic system is one of the most under-discussed yet crucial systems in the body. If we don’t address the lymphatic system and fascia, the body continues to hold onto trauma, making it difficult to heal properly or absorb nutrients effectively.

Jennifer’s research journey into finding the right plants for specific conditions shows her dedication to understanding these remedies deeply: “I’m a huge researcher and I love to learn. When I first started my studies, this plant I had never heard of called hedge maple kept appearing. I kept looking and going down deep down the rabbit hole, and hedge maple is a wonderful plant for viruses. What I didn’t know is that it is a plant for RNA viruses, and HPV and herpes and that whole family is actually a DNA virus, meaning it’s a gene that has mutated in the body.”

This specificity in plant selection demonstrates the sophisticated understanding behind these remedies – they’re not one-size-fits-all but rather carefully matched to the particular condition being addressed.

Practical Use and Accessibility of Plant Stem Cell Remedies

Plant stem cell remedies are extremely versatile and can be used for both acute and chronic conditions. For those with sensitivity, it’s best to start with a low dose – about 3 drops twice a day – and gradually increase as tolerated. For women between 100-150 pounds, a typical dose might be 10 drops twice daily, while men might take 20 drops twice daily.

For acute conditions like an HPV outbreak, microdosing with one drop every hour can quickly get the remedy into the system to start regulating and cleaning things up. By listening to how your body responds, you can determine whether to continue, increase, decrease, or stop the remedy based on your needs and response.

One of the greatest advantages of these plant remedies is their compatibility with other treatments. They can be safely taken alongside pharmaceutical drugs, homeopathy, adult herbs, vitamins, and minerals without interference. In fact, when taken with pharmaceuticals, they help drain what’s not beneficial for the body while leaving the helpful aspects intact.

Some people have even found that, under medical supervision, they were able to reduce their medication dosages after using certain plant stem cell remedies. For instance, Hawthorne is excellent for heart health and has helped some patients reduce their need for heart medications when used concurrently and with proper medical monitoring.

Jennifer’s book, “Ancient Plant Wisdom,” provides detailed information about these plants and their applications. The book explains what plant stem cells are, how they work, the science behind them, and includes a mini materia medica for each plant. It also offers guidance on which plant stem cells are recommended for specific health conditions like Parkinson’s, MS, cancer, or HPV.

The documentary complements the book by focusing more on Jennifer’s healing journey while offering some information about the plants. It includes footage from the Italian Alps where these plants are harvested and emphasizes the message of hope for those diagnosed with serious illnesses.

Jennifer’s experience – going from a 23% chance of five-year survival with stage 4 cancer to being vibrant and healthy ten years later – demonstrates the potential for healing even from severe diagnoses.

The safety profile of these remedies is remarkable, as Jennifer notes: “They’re very safe. They’re using these with babies. I even had used them with animals, and I wrote a chapter in the book about how to use these with animals. I’ve used them with 90-something-year-olds, 94-year-old I think.” This broad applicability across ages and even species suggests their fundamental compatibility with biological systems.

Jennifer also describes a fascinating property of these remedies that makes them particularly gentle and effective: “One of the things I love is with these, you don’t need a binder, which is so unusual. The intelligence of these plant buds is if a main detoxifying organ like the liver has an issue and it’s compromised, they will recruit another organ in the body to get the toxins out.

So it’s like they have this intelligence like, ‘Oh, OK, this organ is blocked, let’s try the kidneys, let’s try the colon.’ So they will keep finding a pathway.” This intelligent adaptability makes them suitable for people with complex conditions where major detoxification pathways may be compromised.

Using Plant Stem Cells with Animals

Jennifer’s experience with using plant stem cells extends beyond human applications to animals as well. She has included a dedicated chapter in her book about how to administer these remedies to animals, recognizing that different species may require different approaches.

Dogs, for instance, are more likely to drink something from a water bowl, making administration relatively straightforward. Cats, however, with their highly sensitive sense of smell, require a different method. Jennifer found that placing a drop on her finger and then applying it to the ear flap (not inside the ear canal) worked effectively for her cat.

She shares a remarkable story about her cat’s recovery from injury: “My cat had the zoomies, which is where all of a sudden they get this rush of energy, and she went flying across the room, smacked into the wall, hurt her leg. I have a holistic vet, and he said, ‘Oh, it’s probably gonna take three months to heal this. It looks like she might have torn a ligament in her knee.’ And I started using a plant called Virginia creeper, which is phenomenal for the connective tissue and the fascia, and a week later she was completely back to normal.” This rapid healing demonstrates the potency of these remedies even across species barriers.

The transdermal application method Jennifer mentions – using the ear flap – takes advantage of the thin skin in the ear that allows for absorption directly into the bloodstream.

Conclusion: Nature’s Wisdom and Our Healing Journey

Jennifer views her role as being a steward of these plants rather than their owner. She emphasizes the importance of respecting nature and recognizing that these plants offer their healing properties in service to humans. This perspective aligns with the indigenous wisdom that plants were here long before humans and contain ancient intelligence that can support our healing.

The journey through serious illness often serves as a messenger, encouraging us to listen to what our bodies need. What initially seems like a devastating diagnosis can become a life journey of discovering what your body needs to heal, which then becomes a way of serving others. This shift in perspective – seeing illness as information that your body is out of balance rather than just as something to fear – can transform our approach to health and healing.
