Why would being a highly sensitive person increase your risk of high-risk HPV and abnormal pap smears?
As a women’s health expert specializing in high-risk HPV, I’ve helped thousands of women worldwide over the last 25 years. I’ve seen the patterns, read the research, and identified a protocol to help women, and that’s why I’m so passionate about sharing this information with you.
Most women find out they’re testing positive for high-risk HPV after having a gynecology exam and pap smear. More practitioners are now testing for high-risk HPV at the time of a pap smear.
Some women go into shock when they discover they’re testing positive, wondering how this happened. Others might have been testing positive for more than five years and feel frustrated that they can’t get it to go away.
I help women who test positive for high-risk HPV virus, including women who have abnormal cells on the cervix or in the vagina, to eliminate high-risk HPV so they don’t have to continue getting ongoing procedures and potentially develop cancer.
The Standard Approach to Abnormal Cells Doesn’t Prevent a Recurrence
When women test positive for high-risk HPV, and especially if abnormal cells are identified on a pap smear, your doctor is likely to recommend a biopsy, and potentially a procedure to remove those abnormal cells.
It is important to remove abnormal cells, because we don’t want them to turn into cancer, however, it is important to know that procedures don’t kill the virus.
Women often find themselves in a seemingly endless loop of needing biopsies and procedures for recurrent abnormal cells because the virus isn’t being handled.
The procedures themselves can be invasive and emotionally draining, especially when you know they’re not addressing the root cause. This is exactly why I’ve developed a comprehensive approach that focuses on eliminating the virus so we can break the cycle.
If you’re dealing with high-risk HPV and trying to find a solution, I welcome you to contact my office so we can help you.
The Stress-HPV Connection
One pattern I’ve observed with high-risk HPV is that women often report experiencing high levels of stress in the two years prior to being diagnosed.
Women report dealing with trauma, whether from childhood or current toxic relationships, loss of a loved one, or other crises in their lives.
Because I also specialize in stress and helping people to recover from stress, I find this to be a very important connection to understand and address.
Stress, and trauma lowers our immune function and makes us more susceptible to infections in general, including high-risk HPV virus.
Trauma also throws off our cortisol levels and microbiome, making us more susceptible to abnormal cells caused by HPV.
It’s a cycle that can feel overwhelming, but understanding this connection is the first step toward healing. It is possible to recover from stress and trauma, and to re-establish healthy cortisol levels and immune function.
The impact of stress on our immune system can’t be underestimated, and addressing this underlying factor is crucial for long-term recovery.
Understanding the Highly Sensitive Person
The concept of a highly sensitive person was developed to help understand those who are more sensitive to their environment and others in their life. This means being more emotionally sensitive, more impacted by others, more sensitive to chemicals, substances, foods, nutrients, and herbs.
Sometimes, as a highly sensitive person, it can feel like you’re trapped in a corner because everything you try makes you feel worse. Your body is sensitive to everything you’re exposed to, including EMFs, travel, and weather changes.
These sensitivities can manifest in various ways – sometimes it’s fatigue, sometimes it’s joint pain, sometimes it’s headaches, sometimes it’s skin rashes, sometimes it’s irritability or anxiety. Any of these symptoms can happen when you’re especially sensitive to your environment.
What’s known about someone who’s more highly sensitive is that they’re also much more prone to burnout, which means that stress overwhelms your system.
Stress causes us to be more sensitive, and then more stress on top of it makes us feel even worse, creating a challenging cycle to break.
My Personal Experience with Being Highly Sensitive
I understand all this because I identified as a highly sensitive person for many years.
It took me a long time to navigate and figure out how to help myself heal. I experienced severe migraines for over two decades, triggered by foods, substances, herbs, travel, weather, chemicals, and stress. Every exposure would trigger a migraine that caused vomiting and incapacitated me for several days.
It was a real deterrent – I became afraid to eat certain foods or try new things because I worried about triggering another episode. One day, sitting on my bathroom floor during a migraine, I asked myself what message my body was trying to tell me.
The answer was clear: if I didn’t start listening to my body each day and taking care of myself, giving myself chances to recover along the way, my body would force me to rest through illness.
I realized I would much rather make time for myself each day to recover from stresses, detoxify, and heal so that I could feel good instead of having to get sick to have time for myself.
This personal journey taught me the importance of daily self-care and the need to honor our body’s signals. When we ignore these messages, our body finds ways to force us to listen, often through illness or other symptoms that we can’t ignore.
What I learned from being highly sensitive has helped me develop an approach to helping others with similar sensitivities.
Being Highly Sensitive and HPV Risk: What’s the Connection?
Highly sensitive people are more sensitive to stress, and as discussed above, stress can set you up for a higher risk of infections, including high-risk HPV virus.
Highly sensitive people, particularly women, tend to prioritize others’ needs over their own. They’re more likely to find themselves in toxic relationships because they’re so caring and giving.
This pattern is particularly common with high-risk HPV – women often taking care of everyone else and putting themselves way down on their to-do list.
A lot of what I do in my protocol to help women eliminate HPV is teach them how to prioritize themselves. When they learn how to take care of themselves first, they’re actually better able to take care of others because they feel better.
Women who are highly sensitive often find themselves in situations where they’re constantly giving without receiving adequate support in return. This imbalance can deplete their resources and make them more vulnerable to health issues, including viral infections like HPV.
Learning to set boundaries and prioritize self-care becomes essential for healing.
Breaking Free from Self-Judgment
Highly sensitive women are often more judgmental of themselves. When they test positive for high-risk HPV, they’re harder on themselves, feeling ashamed and embarrassed. Some women feel disgusted with themselves and don’t know where to turn. They find it hard to ask for help or even tell anyone about their diagnosis.
Remember that HPV is common – 80% of humans get exposed to HPV virus. This doesn’t mean anything bad about you; you didn’t do anything wrong. It’s simply that you got exposed to a virus. While it’s natural to want to know who exposed you and when it happened, this kind of thinking can lead to spirals of worry that aren’t productive.
We can’t go back in time to prevent the exposure, and testing can’t tell us who exposed you or when. What’s important is focusing on moving forward with healing.
Many women ask about their partners and worry about transmission. I encourage you to let your partner decide about their own body. If they want help, they can get help, but what’s important for you is to focus on you – your future, your health, your body.
You are the best one to take care of you. Ultimately, we each are here to take care of our own body, mind, and spirit.
Taking Control of Your Health Journey
Instead of worrying about the past, focus on taking your health into your own hands. Become your own best health advocate. Learn to protect yourself while maintaining your sensitive nature.
When we tend to be more giving and highly sensitive, we’re often open and welcoming to everything, and that’s when the virus can walk in. We need to learn how to protect ourselves and prioritize our health.
As a highly sensitive person, you might need a different approach to treatment. We take it slow, one ingredient at a time, starting with tiny doses. We might open capsules and start with small portions, prioritizing based on your case.
We’re constantly listening to your body’s signals and honoring its messages, adjusting doses before adding the next component. Through this careful approach, we can build momentum toward healing, clear HPV to negative, and ensure it doesn’t return or cause cancer in your body.
Ask yourself what message your body is trying to give you through your symptoms. Think of it like a bucket with holes – no matter how much water we keep putting in, if we don’t address the holes, the bucket will remain empty.
Identify What is Depleting Your Immune System
We need to identify what’s depleting your immune system and address those factors first.
Whether it’s dietary changes, more sleep, addressing nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, or processing emotions, each person’s journey to healing is unique.
It’s absolutely possible to get HPV to negative – I’ve seen success with every different scenario, all different ages, and different lengths of time dealing with HPV. Women who’ve been struggling for more than 15 years, even over age 50, have achieved success.
Learning to listen to your body is part of the healing process, and making friends with nutrients and herbs so they can benefit you is worth the journey.
If you’re feeling doubtful because it seems like everything works for everyone else but not you, I’m here to tell you it can work for you too. Through careful, personalized treatment and a commitment to self-care, you can overcome this challenge and regain your health.
