Start Thinking Differently About Digestion with Dr. Doni Wilson (Episode 77)

We get used to thinking of things a certain way. We get used to things the way they are and start to anticipate that it will remain the same. It becomes “normal” or familiar. Even discomfort and pain can become our usual existence. We find ways to suppress the discomfort, but that doesn’t really solve it.

By standing back and observing from a different perspective, we can see that what we experience as discomfort or pain is actually our body telling us that it needs attention. That it is over-stressed and under-rested.

When we are stressed day in and day out, our nervous system doesn’t have a chance to reset, and our digestion doesn’t have a chance to digest and absorb nutrients that we need.

When we push ourselves to extremes – of too much or too little – even of something that is “good” for us, it can become a stress too.

That stress leads to inflammation, overgrowth of microbes in the microbiome, and susceptibility to a whole range of health issues.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • How our digestion works
  • How your body and digestion are unique
  • What is the microbiome
  • How to think about being a human with a microbiome
  • What disrupts your microbiome
  • Ways to help bring your microbiome back into balance
  • What is helminthic therapy and how it can help

By understanding the body you live in and what it needs in order to thrive, you can make choices to give your body what it needs and not too much of what it doesn’t need more of.

Listen in to learn a different perspective on your digestion and health in general. Please reach out if you’d like more information about how I can help you.
