5 Steps That Can Help Women Clear High-Risk HPV – When Doctors Say It’s Impossible (Episode 266)

If you're testing positive for high-risk HPV, here are the five essential steps I recommend to be proactive to clear HPV and prevent it from coming back.
HPV diagnosis can trigger significant fear and anxiety, especially when women are told just wait and see if it causes abnormal cells. Dr. Doni talks about how women can be proactive and follow five essential steps to protect themselves from high-risk HPV.

If you just found out that you’re testing positive for high-risk HPV on your pap smear result, I’m going to walk you through the five essential steps I recommend for anyone who has received a positive high-risk HPV diagnosis.

I’m Dr. Doni Wilson, a naturopathic doctor and certified professional midwife who has been in practice for over 25 years helping women understand high-risk HPV and what they can do to protect themselves from cancer associated with the high-risk HPV virus. You’re in the perfect place to learn exactly what you need to do because I understand how scary it can be when you first get those test results back from your gynecologist showing positive for high-risk HPV.

The diagnosis might be type 16 or 18 or one of the other fourteen types of high-risk HPV that are associated with cancer risk. No matter which type is testing positive—or sometimes more than one—it can trigger significant fear, anxiety, and worry about what to do next. What can you do to protect yourself? How can you be proactive?

Often, gynecology offices tell patients to “just wait and come back in three to six months or a year, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” I speak with thousands of women every year, and this is what they consistently tell me their doctor’s office says—that there’s nothing you can do but wait and see if it causes abnormal cells or cancer.

As someone who has been helping women for over 25 years—thousands of women around the world—I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to wait and see if it turns into cancer. There are steps you can take starting now, and that’s the purpose of this guide: to give you clear direction on what you can do immediately. I know it’s challenging to find this information, and while there’s a lot of information available, it can still be very confusing and overwhelming.

Unfortunately, what often happens is that people become so confused and overwhelmed by negative information saying “you can’t do anything” that they end up stuck, doing nothing. When you’re doing nothing, that’s when the condition could potentially progress.

Every woman I’ve helped to reverse high-risk HPV and abnormal cells tells me that she wished she had found this information sooner. Let’s explore the five essential steps to take starting now to help protect yourself from cancer caused by high-risk HPV.

Step One: Get Your Test Results and Understand What They Mean

The first step is obtaining a copy of your test results if your doctor hasn’t already provided them. You may be able to access them through a patient portal, by calling the doctor’s office, or by visiting the office in person to request a copy. I always recommend having a copy of your test results that you can save and track over time.

The second aspect of this step is finding someone who can help you understand your results. Sometimes when you ask your doctor what the results mean, they may not have sufficient time to thoroughly explain them.

While it’s worth asking your doctor’s office, if they’re not providing adequate explanations of what your results mean, I welcome you to contact my office. We offer free consultations with my trained team who can review your test results and help you understand what they mean and what your next steps should be.

This first step is crucial because you need to truly understand what you’re dealing with. In any situation in life, if we don’t really understand what something means or what the consequences are, we’re going to feel afraid, overwhelmed, and confused. It’s better to get the information first so that you really know what you’re facing and can start to make informed, problem-solving decisions about your health.

Step Two: Understand That Your Immune System Can Clear HPV

The second essential step is knowing that it’s absolutely possible for the human immune system to clear high-risk HPV virus.

Many practitioners weren’t trained in this concept because we didn’t have this knowledge 20-30 years ago, but now with the newest technology for testing virus and viral titers, we can measure high-risk HPV virus and determine when a person has fully cleared it. The research term used is “clearing the virus.” If you clear the virus, it’s gone from your system—no detectable HPV. This doesn’t mean that it’s dormant; it means that it’s completely eliminated.

The advanced technology used for measuring HPV—which is a DNA type virus—allows us to measure whether it’s present. The human immune system is designed to not only clear the virus but also remember it, so if you’re exposed again in the future, it can defend against it more effectively.

The key question becomes: why isn’t your immune system clearing it? If you’re testing positive, it means your system hasn’t cleared it yet, but that doesn’t mean it can’t. Your immune system is capable of clearing the virus; we just need to support it properly to accomplish this goal.

Understanding that the immune system can clear the virus is fundamental to taking a proactive approach. I offer additional resources including educational workshops where I teach exactly how to support your immune system to clear HPV to negative.

Step Three: Address What’s Making You Susceptible to HPV

The third step involves understanding that the best way to help your system clear HPV and protect you from HPV going forward is to address what’s making you susceptible.

We need to ask the crucial question: why hasn’t your immune system cleared it?

Your immune system is capable of clearing the virus, so we need to determine why it hasn’t accomplished this yet.

Remember that millions of women are exposed to and test positive for HPV every year, but the majority—more than 90%—clear the virus and no longer test positive. If you’re testing positive, it simply means your system has not yet cleared it. What we can do to support you in clearing it is to identify what support your immune system needs.

I work with patients to address what I call the eight susceptibilities to HPV. In both my group online program “Say Goodbye to HPV” and my one-on-one care, we thoroughly examine these eight susceptibilities to ensure each one is properly addressed. Not everyone has all eight susceptibilities—you might have one, two, three, or four. We need to identify which ones are affecting you and address them systematically. As we address these susceptibilities, your body will then be able to clear the virus.

Say Goodbye to HPV: Heal your cervix and clear HPV with this 12-week guided program from Dr. Doni Wilson.

The susceptibilities include nutrient deficiencies. When we have nutrient deficiencies—even in essential nutrients like iron or B vitamins—it decreases our immune system and our body’s ability to protect us from high-risk HPV. We need to conduct laboratory work to identify any nutrient deficiencies and then work with a clinical nutritionist or naturopathic doctor with clinical training to address these deficiencies so you can clear the virus.

Gut Health Is Important Too

We also need to examine your gut health because research and clinical experience show that digestive health directly impacts vaginal health. If this virus can exist vaginally, there’s a high likelihood that something is making you susceptible through your digestion, since the vaginal microbiome is affected by the gut microbiome.

The healthy bacteria in the vaginal microbiome are meant to protect you from HPV—they’re your natural bodyguards. If HPV can break through and be present, it indicates your vaginal microbiome may be disrupted.

We need to examine both the vaginal microbiome and trace it back to your digestion by looking at your gut microbiome. Do you experience bloating or gas? Is there bacterial overgrowth or yeast overgrowth?

These issues can all be addressed using natural approaches including herbs, nutrients, and probiotics. It requires a comprehensive clinical protocol, but it’s absolutely possible to address these factors.

This type of comprehensive gut health assessment isn’t typically addressed in gynecology offices, as they focus specifically on gynecological issues rather than gut microbiome health. We also need to look for leaky gut and food sensitivities, because when you have leaky gut, the intestinal cells aren’t as healthy as they should be. Food—even healthy food—can leak through between the cells and trigger inflammatory immune responses. This inflammation travels throughout your body and can make you susceptible to high-risk HPV.

Comprehensive gut healing involves reducing inflammation, improving digestion and nutrient absorption, and balancing both the gut and vaginal microbiomes.

Don’t Forget Cortisol and Adrenaline Levels!

We also need to examine other hormones in your body, including cortisol levels. Cortisol is our main stress hormone, and research shows that when women are under high stress—including those with a history of sexual abuse or trauma, particularly from childhood—this increases the risk of HPV and cervical cancer. Adverse childhood events, trauma, or abuse in adulthood all impact cortisol levels and stress hormones

Rather than simply identifying these issues and moving on, there are concrete steps we can take to help correct them. We measure cortisol levels in saliva and then help your body return to optimal cortisol levels using herbs and nutrients based on your particular pattern. Everyone’s cortisol pattern is unique—some people have high cortisol at certain times of day, others have low cortisol at specific times. We determine the right herbs and nutrients for your individual needs.

We can also examine adrenaline levels, which are impacted by stress, and look at neurotransmitter levels in urine to help optimize them. This supports your body’s recovery from stress so you’re not susceptible to the negative impacts of stress that make you vulnerable to HPV.

Additional hormones we need to examine include thyroid hormone, insulin function, and blood sugar levels. We also need to look at estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels. Is your estrogen high or low? Are you in perimenopause or post-menopause? We need to address estrogen levels vaginally because vaginal estrogen also impacts the vaginal microbiome.

All of these factors and more need to be taken into consideration, including any toxin exposure. Environmental toxins in our food, air, and water, as well as mold toxins, can significantly disrupt immune function and make you susceptible to infections like high-risk HPV virus.

By taking all of this into consideration and helping to rebalance everything, we can re-optimize your nutrients, hormones, neurotransmitters, and microbiome. Then your system starts functioning properly again and can protect you from high-risk HPV virus—not just temporarily, but long-term.

We’re not aiming for a quick fix or temporary negative HPV result. By addressing what’s depleted and restoring balance, you won’t want to return to imbalance again. We help you maintain that level of balance going forward so you can continue protecting yourself from HPV even if you’re exposed in the future. This approach focuses on long-term results rather than short-term fixes.

Step Four: Create a Comprehensive Supplement Plan

Step four is to understand that you really need a comprehensive supplement plan. For a lot of people, it’s very tempting to go purchase one or two supplements or even ten supplements because you heard that they would help, but it’s not in a comprehensive strategic plan, right?

So, if you’re just grabbing, let’s say, a mushroom extract or some extra vitamin C, or even if it’s vitamin D, vitamin E—you know, now you’ve got a bunch of random nutrients and herbs or mushrooms, but it’s not in a comprehensive protocol that’s thought through by an expert who’s trained to help you with the use of natural substances, right?

I think it’s a good thing that you’re trying to be proactive, you’re trying to learn, you’re trying to find supplements you can take. I really applaud that and appreciate that, and I want you encourage to make sure you are following a comprehensive and effective plan.

When people meet with me, we look at: which supplements do you already have? What are you already doing that’s working, and what’s missing?

Oftentimes I find that we need to increase some doses to clinical doses, and that is information you’re not going to find anywhere online because clinical dosing is available through practitioners with additional training and certification or licensure.

A lot of times as women we think, “Oh, I can figure this out on my own. I’m going to be able to just pick a couple supplements and solve this.” And I’m just here to tell you that—in some cases that might work, but most cases that I see, women have been trying to take random supplements, and HPV is not going away yet.

So, if it’s not going away yet, it says to me that you need an expert to help you. Like if something goes wrong in your house, let’s say the toilet breaks, you’re not going to expect that you’re going to figure out how to fix the toilet. You’re going to hire a plumber who is an expert in fixing toilets.

Step Five: Work with an Expert Practitioner to Help You

Step number five is to find a practitioner who’s an expert in helping you to create a comprehensive protocol of supplements to help you address anything that’s making you susceptible to HPV so that you can successfully clear it as soon as possible.

You are welcome to set a time have a free call with an expert on my team to review your results and help you understand your options for taking proactive steps.

You can also join me for my next free online workshop where I teach about my approach to clear HPV naturally.

I do also offer support in group, online program or in a one-on-one setting so that I can guide you to address the eight susceptibilities and to come up with a comprehensive supplement protocol that matches for your body. It’s not the same for everybody. We need to know your body, your situation, and dial in the doses specific to you and your lab results.

It’s important to work with a practitioner who knows the right tests to do, the right information to get—in order to create a supplement protocol that’s going to be specific to you.

Also, when you’re working with a practitioner, you’re going to get access to vaginal suppositories. It can be very hard to get access to vaginal suppositories that are effective, especially in the United States where they’re highly regulated.

It requires that you work with a practitioner who can supervise you and help you to get access from the highest quality, safe, and effective vaginal suppositories using herbs, nutrients, and probiotics that have been shown to help your body to clear high-risk HPV vaginally so that your body can heal, your body can clear the virus, you can heal the vaginal area, you can build up your resilience—your ability to protect you from high-risk HPV going forward.

Taking Control of Your Health and Future

I hope this guide has been helpful in encouraging you to take these essential steps. Here’s a quick summary of the five steps that you can reference and check off as you complete them:

  • Step 1: Get Your Test Results and Understand What They Mean – Obtain copies of your test results and find someone qualified to help you understand what they mean and your options moving forward.
  • Step 2: Understand That Your Immune System Can Clear HPV – Know that it’s absolutely possible for your immune system to completely clear high-risk HPV virus from your system.
  • Step 3: Address What’s Making You Susceptible to HPV – Identify and address the underlying factors (the eight susceptibilities) that are preventing your immune system from clearing the virus.
  • Step 4: Create a Comprehensive Supplement Plan – Work with an expert to develop a strategic, clinical-dose supplement protocol rather than taking random supplements.
  • Step 5: Find an Expert Practitioner – Partner with a practitioner who specializes in helping people clear HPV through comprehensive natural protocols.

When you follow these five steps, you’re going to feel much more empowered because you won’t have to feel like you’re figuring it out on your own—you’ll have expert guidance throughout the process.

Also, when you follow these steps, you’re way more likely to clear the virus and prevent abnormal cells and high-risk HPV or cancer – high-risk HPV-related cancer – now and into the future. And that’s huge, you know? Like some—when I talk to women who have successfully followed my protocol and cleared the virus, and I ask them how you feel, they say how they feel this huge sense of relief and happiness and empowerment and excitement now for their life because now they know they can protect themselves from cancer and they can go on to do what they love and continue to improve their health.

If you would like to watch more testimonials or watch videos or read women who have worked with me, then I’ll put that link down below as well so that you can hear directly from them what it feels like to finally take your control back of your health, your body, your future, and take steps that actually are helping women to clear HPV.

Now, some women say to me, “Oh my gosh, is this too good to be true?” And believe me, as a practitioner, sometimes I’m like, “Wow, is this really happening?” And I’m telling you, time and time again now, it’s not that it’s like some magic that’s happening. These women are working hard, so it does—and it’s all based on science, research, and clinical experience. So it’s not that we’re just saying that this can happen out of nowhere. We’re saying this can happen when you actually start putting the research and science into action for your body. We can do that. We can make that happen.

As you take those steps to implement, to look inside and say, “Hey, is there something on even a mind-body-spirit level that’s making me susceptible to this virus? Let me lean in to the possibility that I can heal by addressing what’s making me susceptible and having a comprehensive plan and having support”—then that’s how these women are being successful at clearing the virus, healing their cervix, and preventing it from happening again.
