The Stress Remedy – 8 Ways to Know If It’s Right for You

Dr. Doni introduces her newly updated Stress Remedy Programs and answers the top 8 questions she is asked about what it is and why you should try it.

stress, stress remedy, stress remedies, sleep, diet, exercise, natural healthI’m taking a break from writing about oxidative stress specifically to tell you about my newly designed and updated Stress Remedy Programs.

People often ask me why they should try the Stress Remedy Program, so I’ve come up with a list of my top eight reasons. I have also shared answers to two other common questions:

  1. What is the difference between the 7-day and the 21-day versions of the program?
  2. What do I need to understand in order to benefit from the Stress Remedy Programs?

Eight Reasons to do the Stress Remedy Program

Reason #1

You’ve been feeling run-down, tired (more often than usual), irritable, or anxious.

Reason #2

You’re up a few pounds and down on sleep.

Reason #3

You’d like to change your diet to see if it will help improve your health but you feel you need some guidance on what to eat and how to change your eating patterns.

Reason #4

You’ve been working long hours and have started to notice the effects on your health, be it digestive issues, hormone imbalances, rashes, frequent infections, or mood changes.

Reason #5

You’ve been eating way too much sugar, bread, and pasta—and not many veggies, healthy fats and protein.

Reason #6

You’ve been getting less than 7 hours of sleep each night.

Reason #7

You feel overwhelmed by the way you feel, and even more overwhelmed by the thought of what to do about it.

Reason #8

You feel like you just need a vacation to get back on track, but you can’t take a month or more off from work and life.

What is the difference between the 7-day and the 21-day versions of the Stress Remedy Program?

Simply put, the 7-day program is designed as an introduction to the 21-day program, with steps that assist with applying the principles outlined in my book, The Stress Remedy, into your life.

When you sign up for the 7-day program, you will receive:

The 7-day program is intended to integrate into your daily life, although it could be (and is even ideally) implemented when you have a few days away from work – a long weekend or a vacation.

If you have already completed an IgG and IgA food panel or know you have food sensitivities or allergies, you’ll be able to modify the diet suggestions to be sure you avoid your problem foods. (Learn more about the IgG and IgA food panel here.)

If you have not already completed an IgG and IgA food panel, or you are awaiting your results, then the 7-day program will assist you with the initial steps towards avoiding the most commonly reactive foods: dairy, eggs, gluten, and soy. You will also be avoiding sugar and alcohol on the program, giving yourself an opportunity to recover from stressful eating patterns so you’ll already be on the path to feeling better.

You don’t have to follow the plan “to a T.” Although it does provide structure, the 7-day program is designed to allow you to make it your own in the hopes that it will become more “normal” for you, which is what will ultimately lead to greater change and an improvement in your health.

Now about the 21-day program

You could start right off with the 21-day program. Or after completing the 7-day program, you could continue onto the 21-day program for ongoing support with implementing the Stress Remedy principles.

Whether you have completed the 7-day program or if you’ve already been integrating dietary changes, you’ll be ready for the additional steps and complexity that comes with the 21-day program. For example, you may already be avoiding gluten and dairy and/or you’re already exercising regularly and are you’re looking to take it to the next level by:

If this is the case, the 21-day program will have the support you need. The daily emails you will receive have two sections: Daily strategies and a topic of the day with more detail on one of the areas that will help you understand your body more and implement lasting change.

The 21-day program includes:

What Do I Need to Understand in order to Benefit from the Stress Remedy Programs?

Here are three key things you need to understand when considering either the 7-day or the 21-day Stress Remedy Program.

  1. Stress is not simply a response to trauma or feeling overwhelmed by everything you have to deal with. It is those things, but it is also your response to certain foods that increase stress signals within your body and exposure to toxins in your food, water and environment. Stress is caused by lack of sleep and skipping meals. It is anything that causes your body to adapt and respond, pulling your health away from optimal.
  1. Genetics don’t determine your health. You determine your health based on what you eat, how much you move (exercise), how much you sleep, and what you do to support your body to recover from the inevitable stresses we are exposed to on a daily basis. It is absolutely possible to influence your health by changing what you do and eat every day.
  1. Self-criticism doesn’t help and simply applying a structured program isn’t going to be a long-term solution. This program supports you to accept yourself and your body, to be curious and learn from your body what it needs and what to do to help it function at its best. If you do something that doesn’t quite match the recommendations, it gives you a perfect opportunity to find out how it feels and identify what you could do differently moving forward that would feel better. While structure and a program can help support change, it is important to do it in a way that integrates into your daily life so the changes will “stick” and become yours. Otherwise, it will feel like you are simply going through the motions—and eventually you’ll give up, which isn’t going to help you or your health.

It’s Time for Self-Care!

Is it time for you to start supporting yourself with daily dietary recommendations and email tips so that you can be more successful at implementing change in your diet, lifestyle, and health?

I hope this article has answered your questions about the Stress Remedy Program and has helped you understand how it can help you get back to optimum health. Ultimately, my goal with the Stress Remedy Programs is to provide solutions for long-term change, not quick fixes that will end when you finish the program.

I know from over 16 years’ experience helping patients that it can be overwhelming to integrate dietary changes while also working on stress-reduction, sleep-restoration, and digestive healing. I don’t want you to have to fit the program. Instead, I want you to be able to customize the program to meet you where you are in the process. In this way, you’ll take from it what supports what you are already doing and allow the tips to help you integrate new skills, techniques, and approaches into your lifestyle for years to come.
